Total/HDL Cholesterol ratio is generally not ordered as a separate test but is reported as part of a lipid profile, a panel of tests that measure the absolute quantities and ratios of various lipids or fats in the body that contribute to risk of heart disease. A high HDL, hence a low ratio is generally considered protective against atherosclerotic heart disease.
Test is performed on a blood sample. You should not eat or drink anything other than water for 12 hours before the test
