Chloride is an important electrolyte, mineral that helps regulate the amount of water in the body and acid base balance. Along with blood chloride levels, an urine chloride may also be requested to provide additional information about the kidney function to differentiate between various electrolyte or acid base disorders.
This test requires a 24 hour collection. Empty your bladder completely first thing in the morning and collect urine everytime you go to the toilet for the next 24 hours, including the first time the next morning.
